Regional Development Agency One North East (ONE) commissioned research into how the rich history, heritage and historical attractions of the North East of England can be used to attract more visitors.  This found that, although many attractions were providing a high quality experience, there are many ways that they could better promote and more successfully engage new and existing visitors. ONE therefore followed up this research with publication of a fact sheet for Heritage Attractions, illustrating key findings from the research together with feedback from subsequent focus groups and workshops conducted with potential visitors, particularly on forward marketing materials and the actual visiting experience.

Whilst some of the content is North East specific, much of the advice is apt and relevant for churches anywhere wishing to develop and promote their visitor welcome. You can download the document here: Heritage Attraction Factsheet.

Footnote: the Regional Development Agency One North East (ONE) is now set to be wound up by end of March 2012. The Factsheet may not be available after that date.
