The Culture Task Group of the Churches Regional Commission for Yorkshire & the Humber (CRCYH) represents churches among regional cultural bodies and champions good practice, innovation and recognition for the Christian churches in the cultural life of the region. Within that wide remit, the Task Group has given support to Church and Faith Tourism through its funded programmes including North Yorkshire Church Tourism Project and Treasures Revealed, initially in the Leeds area and recently in wider West Yorkshire. A range of Church Guides focussing on areas or themes of parts of Yorkshire has been successfully launched over the last 10 years, most recently the private publication of “Angels and Architecture” by Plug and Tap, featuring for the 2010 edition over 65 churches in North and East Riding, and based on some of the data held by the CRC.
